Save the Children, Festival of Christmas in Wimborne

Saturday, 12 December 2009

The Festival of Christmas in the East Dorset town of Wimborne Minster starts in the morning with the Allenbourn School band playing on the Minster Green. Morris dancers and cheerleaders provide further entertainment in the town.

The annual parade with some twenty floats, steam engines, marching bands, pipe band, vintage cars and majorettes will leave Wimborne Market at 2.15pm and wend its way to the Square.

Especially for the children, Father Christmas and the snow princess and her attendants will be in the Grotto at the Information Centre.

The Save the Children Christmas Festival raises a considerable sum for underprivileged children, both at home and abroad and is a very special community event.

Arrive early.  The event attracts large crowds.
