Saved from death row – homes urgently required

Seven Staffordshire bull terriers, destined to die on 27 June have been saved by Dorset animal charity, Waggy Tails Rescue.

All seven dogs, family pets that no one had claimed, were destined for death row and a nationwide plea to help them was issued by Dogwatch, the organisation that liaises with dog pounds.

Waggy Tails was the only charity to respond and despite not having their own sanctuary, (after losing their temporary clinic in Ferndown nearly three years ago), the charity placed four of the dogs in foster homes.  The other three have been put in kennels and Waggy Tails is footing the bill.

Shelagh Meredith, chairman of Waggy Tails said, “Staffordshire bull terriers are one of the most misunderstood breeds in the canine world. They have become status symbols for inner city youths, who treat them inappropriately and often very cruelly. In the right home, they are affectionate and make fabulous family pets. Anyone wanting to help with adopting or donating should contact Waggy Tails office on 01202 875000 or email admin@waggytails.org.uk
