Sporting chance to buy a signed picture

A wonderful collection of sporting pictures by a Bridport artist are to be sold by Lawrences of Crewkerne.

Painted by Peter Billingham from the 1970s onwards, the paintings represent famous sporting stars.
 
Paintings include Bobby Moore, Stanley Matthews, Alex Higgins, Steve Davis, Bjorn Borg, Torvill & Dean, Bille Jean King, Graham Gooch, Geoffrey Boycott, Ian Botham, James Hunt and many more. All of the pictures have been signed by the stars themselves.
 
Auctioneer Simon Jones said, "This is a wonderful archive of sporting greats over the last 30-40 years. Peter is a very talented artist and his attention to detail is marvellous. To actually manage to get all of the pictures signed by the sporting stars is incredible, and of course in many cases those stars are no longer with us."
 
The pictures will be sold in Lawrences Collectors sale on 28 October, and all of the proceeds of the pictures are to be donated to charity.
