Squeaky workshop

The tiny harvest mouse, Britain’s smallest rodent; the beady-eyed wood mouse; voles and shrews are the focus of a Small Mammal Identification Workshop being held on 14 June by Dorset Wildlife Trust.

Led by experts Imogen Davenport, Head of Conservation, and John Stobart, County Mammal Recorder, it will focus on some of the fascinating but often unseen creatures that inhabit our gardens and countryside.

Included in the day will be the opportunity to look at owl pellets, to find out what mammals have eaten by one of their main predators.  There will also be the chance of actually seeing some of the small creatures that, with luck, will have been caught the night before.

The workshop is on 14 June, 10am to 4pm, and includes both indoor and outdoor sessions in the Dorchester area. It is open to everyone over the age of 16 years. The cost is £30, which includes a buffet lunch.  Booking is essential as numbers are limited.
