Stamping out racism

A group of young people from ethnically diverse backgrounds are putting their own spin on the curriculum as they prepare to hold their own youth-led conference for Bournemouth pupils.

The event, held at Winton YMCA on Thursday 1 July, aims to stamp out the racist attitudes that some young people are being raised with. Teachers will be pushed aside for the day as the young campaigners run workshops for up to 70 attendees from schools across the town.

The group of young people from TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) know all too well what a terrible impact racism and bullying can have on young people. TEAM is a youth action project for young people aged 11-16 and supports any young person from any ethnic background in the Bournemouth area.

More information about the event can be found by emailing angela.reece@bournemouthymca.org.uk
