Steven Gerrard proofed by pupil

West Moors Middle School pupil Jonny Tomlinson has been selected to help proof read a new biography about Steven Gerrard, detailing his rise to fame as one of England’s most talented footballers.

After reading another book from publishers Barrington Stone, Jonny noticed that a group of children had been credited as having contributed to the book.

He contacted the publishers and was delighted to be sent the manuscript for Steven Gerrard’s new biography.

He has had to edit the book - suggesting new words or phrases, commenting on how clear the text was and giving examples of illustrations which he thought would add to the story.

Jonny said, "Editing the book was fun and interesting because I was one of the first to see the story. I changed a couple of the words used, because I thought they might have been too hard for some people to understand. I also added some pictures, including one of the Hillsborough disaster to help younger people understand what happened.

"I would love to help edit another book, and I look forward to my name being mentioned in the Steven Gerrard book."

The book is due to be published in February 2011.
