Sticky business

It’s a sticky time for business at the moment, but not so for this young entrepreneur at the Ringwood Waldorf School.

Pupil Austin Charman bucked the worldwide recession at the school’s annual summer fayre with his roaring trade in stick insects.

The nine-year-old breeds the insects and found new homes for all 60 of his ‘babies’.

Selling them at £1 each complete with stick insect ‘des res’ cardboard houses and RSPCA care sheets, Austin’s stand at the fayre proved to be an overwhelming success.

Hundreds of families and friends of the school flocked to the one-day event held in the Eco Garden of the neighbouring Lantern Community in Folly Farm Lane.
