The 53rd AGM of Ringwood Floral Decoration Society was held at Greyfriars on 26 January and was well attended and the chairman reported another successful year.
After the usual 'business' two charities were chosen for the club to support in 2012/13. WOTS (Word on the Street) is a charity for young people mostly serving Ringwood and Alderholt. A converted double decker bus provides a safe environment for socialising and informal educational opportunities. The club will also support Ringwood Vineyard Church, an organisation supporting local families in need by providing food. The hope is to raise lots of money for both these good causes during the year.
Ringwood Floral Decoration Society raised money in various ways for their two chosen charities throughout 2011/12 which were the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, and also the Hants and IOW Air Ambulance Service. The President, Mrs Marjorie Marshall, was delighted to present cheques for £750 to both charities. The meeting ended with tea and delicious cakes.
Ringwood Floral Decoration Society's next meeting is on Thursday, 23 February which will be a demonstration by Lucy Ellis. New members and visitors are welcome to join at Greyfriars Hall on the last Thursday of the month at 2.15pm. Contact Jenny Davies on 01425 474391 for more information.
