Summer recycling success

Wimborne residentsĀ have helpedĀ a new recycling competition become a big hit.

The competition, organised by East Dorset District Council and Wimborne Town Council, ran throughout August, and gave people a chance to win £50.

All Wimborne residents stood a chance of winning, as long as they recycled correctly. All they needed to do to win is put their green bag and box out on their collection day, making sure only the correct materials were inside.

David Packer, Wimborne Minster Town and East Dorset District Councillor said, “The competition was a great way of raising the profile of the green bag and box scheme. Hopefully, it will encourage more people to recycle as well as rewarding existing recyclers.”

Recent winners were Margaret and Bob Kiff from Grenville Road, who were presented with £50 to spend in Wimborne's shops by the Mayor of Wimborne.

Margaret said, "We're delighted to have won, everyone has a duty to do their bit and recycle to reduce greenhouse gases and stop waste going into landfills."
