Superbuys weighing anchor

One of Ferndown’s anchor stores is moving.

The closing down sale at Superbuys is yet another indication of lack of shoppers in the town.

Director of Superbuys, Mr P Morton said, “The decision to close wasn’t taken easily.  It was tough and we deliberated over it because we have been here so long. ”
He said a number of factors led to the decision, “It’s partially down to poor trade and the car parking problems.”

He explained that since the introduction of wheel clamping in Ferndown, shoppers had been filling the Superbuys car park.  “It meant we were forced to do the same.”

The store will close in the spring and move to Canford Magna to join the Superbuys’ garden centre which trades there.

The Superbuys’ chain owns the Ferndown shop and Mr Morton said, “After we’ve moved out, it will remain as retail premises, but I can’t say more than that at this stage.”
