Dorset Punch and Judy to be sold

A wonderful Punch and Judy theatre is to be sold by Lawrences of Crewkerne.
 
Entered by a client in Somerset, the theatre was used on many local beaches including Weymouth, Swanage and various other resorts.
 
Used by his father and grandfather, the three generations have supplied entertainment for children over nearly 100 years. The puppets included Punch and Judy, Baby, Crocodile, and many others. Reaching the end of the family line it has been entered for sale in Lawrences Collectors sale.
 
Lawrences Auctioneer Simon Jones said, "It's rare to see an original Punch and Judy theatre come up for sale, particularly with local connections. The theatre has survived remarkably well, and although the original puppets have worn away and been replaced, it should still attract a lot of attention."
 
The item will be sold in Lawrences two day Militaria, Collectors, and Sporting sale on April 8 and 9, and is expected to make £200-300 in auction.
