Ringwood Town Council is to name a park at the Bickerley after the late Danny Cracknell.
A past mayor, Danny had been instrumental in purchasing the land, which was acquired recently, together with the adjoining Pocket Park.
Following views expressed by some residents that the phrase ‘Pocket Park’ had much to commend it, the name of the park will be ‘The Danny Cracknell Pocket Park.’
The official naming will take place at 11am on Saturday 18 April, exactly one year after Danny passed away. Councillor Brian Terry, the current mayor, believes that by holding the official naming ceremony on that date it will be a fitting tribute to Danny’s contribution to the town.
Danny’s widow, Di, together with family and friends will be present with councillors for the official naming ceremony.
