The Gnostics Breakthrough at Forest FM

THE GNOSTICS is the latest band to be chosen as the Breakthrough band of the month by Forest FM.  The award includes daily airplay throughout December and a live concert at the New Legion.

This Poole-based indie-folk five-piece band mightily impressed Forest FM with their songs and musicianship.

Based around the core song-writing duo of guitarists Simon and Steve, they have been augmented in the last year with Andy on drums, Ollie on violin and Tom on double-bass.

The band produces a tight-knit acoustic sound. With acknowledged influences including the Beatles – and a band sound that takes elements of Crowded House and Lindisfarne and creates something unique out of it – they play an infectious style of music.

Live, they are something else – and Forest FM would strongly recommend their latest album, ‘The Book Of Malcolm.’ They’ll be playing numbers from it – plus some new material too - at their headline concert on 12 December at The New Legion in Verwood.  Another Breakthrough winner, Mary Spender will aslo be performing.

Tickets are only £4 – on the door, or in advance from The Musical Bus on 01425-483105. Students (with an NUS card) and 14-18 year olds £3.00 – great value for a great night out. Doors open at 8pm.
