Of the 160 shoppers passing the Barrington Centre in Ferndown who voluntarily took advantage of a free blood pressure check, eight were recommended to see their GP as a matter of urgency. A further thirty-nine recorded higher than normal readings and were prompted to see their GP, just in case.
The event run by Ferndown Rotary Club is just one of many being staged in association with the National Stroke Association as part of Rotary’s country wide Stroke Awareness campaign.
If you missed the Ferndown checks, you can visit Verwood on 25 April for a similar event being held on Ferret Green by Verwood Rotary. A white tent will be there between 10am-3pm for free blood pressure checks.
