The new chief executive of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, Bill Sivewright, put his best foot forward to help the charity when he took part in this year’s Trickey Warren Trek fund-raising run.
More than 200 people from across Dorset, Somerset, Devon, and Wiltshire entered the Trickey Warren Trek events - a 2k family-friendly fun run, 4k individual and team runs, and the 10k individual and team courses.
Among the runners were many former DSAA patients, along with their friends and family. Dorset woman, Sue Lanfear, completed the 10k run in 77.37 minutes, just four months after the Air Ambulance airlifted her to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after a riding accident.
The men’s 10k race was won by 15-year-old Taunton Athletics Club member, Rowan Preece, while this year’s 4k winner was 14-year-old Wellington schoolboy Ben Hawkins.
Together, it is hoped the runners’ efforts will at least equal last year’s fund-raising total of more than £10,000.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance chief executive Bill Sivewright said, “We are delighted with the success of the Trickey Warren Trek for a second successive year, and I would like to thank everybody who helped to organise and sponsor the event and all those who took part.
“We had lots of fun on the day and together we hope to have raised a significant amount for the charity to help us keep on saving lives.”
