We three kings…

Camels and kings arrived in Ringwood’s Furlong to remind visitors of the true meaning of Christmas and to mark the arrival of another well known seasonal character.

The festive spectacle included Mary and Joseph, two donkeys, lots of shepherds and Santa being drawn on a sled pulled by two husky-type dogs.

The procession travelled through the town and into the Market Place, where there was a French market, fairground attractions, a steam train and pipe band.

Shopkeepers  got into the spirit of things by dressing up and decorating their shop windows in keeping with the Season of Goodwill. The Hair Business won the fancy dress competition and Ringwood Fabrics scooped first prize for their magnificent shop window display.

The event was organised by the Chamber of Commerce.  Their president, Barbara Woodifield said,  "We are delighted with the evening everyone had such a good time. It was a great success and a true family event."

Thanks were made to Sainsburys for coming in with a large, last minute cash donation. Other sponsors include Churchill Retirement Living, The Furlong, David Lloyd Leisure, Letcher's Solicitors, Edward Jones Financial Services, Ringwood Brewery and the Chocolate Box.

Now that Santa has arrived, children can visit him and his elves, free of charge in his Gingerbread House from 10am to 4pm in the Furlong every weekend until Christmas.

Each child receives a Gingerbread man biscuit.

Voluntary contributions will be collected on behalf of the Stable Family Home Trust in Bisterne for people with special needs.
