The planning application submitted by Vodafone for a 24m high telecommunications mast on land to the west of Station Road, West Moors has been withdrawn.
The lattice mast with 3 antennae and two 300mm dishes was proposed near trees in a field on the outskirts of the village.
Over a hundred letters had been received by East Dorset District Council protesting about the proposal.
The agent for Vodafone was unavailable for comment today, but East Dorset District Council planning department anticipate that a revised application will be submitted.
On the opposite side of the village, a Vodofone monopole 15m high has received permission and will be placed on the A31 in the vicinity of Monks Close, West Moors.
Poles up to 15m in height do not need planning permission, but instead can be dealt with by way of ‘deemed permission,’ a much simpler application whereby if a decision by the council is not given within fifty-six days of submission, deemed permission is automatically granted.
