Women’s section is 60-years-old

The Women’s Section of Wimborne Royal British Legion celebrated its 60th anniversary on 11 April.  A service at the Minster was followed by a march along Westborough to the Legion clubhouse for a presentation and anniversary cake.

About 150 people in the congregation heard Mrs Marianne Moores tell how the Women's Section was established by the hard work of the late Mrs Eve Raymond in 1950.

The Women's Section Annual Calendar of fund raising events is a vital part of Wimborne's support for members of the ex service community who need help in a variety of ways.

On the march past, the salute was taken by the Chairman of the Wimborne Royal British Legion Women's Section Mrs Marianne Moores and the President of Wimborne Branch, Mr John Raymond.
