Wonder web at Moors Valley!

Over two hundred children swarmed over the spectacular new spider’s web at Moors Valley Country Park and Forest when the brand new play structure was officially opened on 16 April.

The first to climb the huge 100’ x 60’ rope and wood construction was world record-breaking mountaineer, Rhys Jones from Copythorne in the New Forest.

The event was part of a fundraising effort to help disadvantaged local children, and Moors Valley came together with Wave 105’s Cash for Kids for the official opening.  Rhys is one of the charity’s celebrity supporters and unveiled the new spider’s web to highlight the charity’s work in the south.

The Spider’s Web is the latest addition to the Moors Valley Play Trail. The trail takes children on a route through the Moors Valley pine forest, stopping along the way for play on a variety of structures including a crocodile crossing, and snake pit.

The creation of Otterbourne-based sculptor Andy Frost, who designed and built a number of other pieces of play equipment in the park, the web is a wonderful new addition to the Play Trail. Or as one young visitor said, “it’s the best thing I’ve ever climbed on!”
