Young carers get well-deserved break

Young carers from across the New Forest got a well-deserved break this half term as part of Community First New Forest’s Young Carers Project.

Graffiti art, street dance and sumo wrestling were on the agenda at the Phoenix Centre in New Milton to give children and teenagers some much needed time out.

The Young Carers Project is designed to give youths a break from the caring responsibilities that dominate their life.

Project Co-ordinator Marie Shotbolt from Community First New Forest is already planning the next event. She commented, “Thanks to the Masonic Lodge who supported us this time, we know that we will be able to run this event again next year, and we want to make it better.”

As well as activities, the Young Carers Project offers one-to-one support, and can help families to access the services that will make their lives easier. If you think that you may be a young carer, or know one that needs some help, please contact Marie at Community First New Forest on 01425 482773 and on marie.shotbolt@cfnf.org.uk
