Young Designer of the Year

Ashley Dunford has been awarded designer of the year in a new competition organised by the Rotary Club of Wimborne.

Eighteen-year-old Ashley from St Edwards School has just completed his A levels and will be moving to Kingston-on-Thames University to read Architecture.  His winning design and model was of a house at Sandbanks in Poole.

President Rev Robert McBain said, “There were nineteen entrants for this design and technology competition and I am amazed at the skill of these young people in the models and working ideas they have made. I also thank Walford Mill for allowing us to have display space so that the public could vote for the one they liked.”

Ashley received a £30 WH Smith token, certificate and trophy. Additionally Bradbury & Bichard presented him with an architect's student manual.

The age of the entrants ranged from 16 to 18 and they were broken down into three groups. Each group also had a winner and prize. This new competition will now become an annual event on the Wimborne Rotary calendar.
