Sturts Farm fete accompli

A fete on 6 September at Sturts Farm rounded off summer in West Moors in style.
Held to raise funds for educational equipment for Sturts Farm Community Trust, families flocked to the farm to enjoy tractor rides, craft and market stalls, an organic meat barbecue and delicious home made cream teas.

CashUnity winner lives in Verwood

The latest CashUnity draw was carried out by James Edgar, the President of Ferndown Chamber of Commerce and director of Ferndown Photographs on 8 September. He drew Mr T Richards from Verwood from over 600 entries. The lucky winner of the August draw had entered through Xerocad in Ferndown and will be presented with his £1,000 prize later this week.

Lease lays tracks for trains from Swanage to Wareham

An historic lease for railway land means an important trial passenger train service linking Swanage and Corfe Castle with the main line at Wareham can run for the first time in more than 40 years.
Dorset County Council has acquired three miles of trackbed from fellow Purbeck Community Rail Partnership member Network Rail, the line running from a quarter of a mile south of Worgret Junction to Motala, half a mile east of Furzebrook, which is the start of the existing Swanage Railway.
