The Durlston pupils took part in a day-long carolathon, visiting Castlepoint Shopping Park, Waitrose at Furlong, Ringwood and Stewarts Garden Centre.

Accompanied by Durlston Court’s director of music, Rob Dishington, the children sang a selection of Christmas carols to passing shoppers. Paul Hilliam, Stewarts Garden Centre manager said, “Staff and customers enjoyed the performance and the extra festive ambiance it added to the garden centre and coffee shop.”

The children were collecting money for The Honeypot Children’s Charity for young carers and vulnerable children, and Christchurch Soup Kitchen for the homeless.

In addition, the Durlston pupils donated boxes of Christmas gifts. In total, 126 boxes full of gloves, chocolates, toiletries and toys were donated. Headmaster Richard May said, “The pupils had heard the representatives from the two local charities speak about what their charities do, and the pupils, parents and staff were all keen to help as much as they could.”
