A special main line train has made history after being the first to run on the Swanage Railway’s newly completed three-mile extension towards Wareham – a further step towards running trains to the Purbeck town.
Stewarts Garden Centres has appointed Jamie Rollings, formerly with the Blue Diamond Garden Centre group for 12 years. Jamie has relocated from the Channel Islands to take the role of Outdoor Plant Buyer Manager for the long established Dorset based horticultural business. In his teenage years he studied horticulture at the Sparsholt College near Winchester, before embarking on a varied career within horticultural retailing.

Animal Defenders International have rescued 33 lions, 24 from circuses in Peru and nine from Colombia, after both countries banned the use of wild animals in circuses. The lions will be returned to their homeland on Friday 29 April when they will be flying to a destination in the natural African bush at Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary, South Africa.
Arthur Woodley’s 100th birthday celebrations included a surprise visit from the head of West Moors Parish Council, Councillor Penny Yeo. She dropped in to Brook View care home where Arthur is a resident to present him with a card and bottle of red wine.
