Esme Bannister, 100, a resident at Colten Care’s Brook View home in West Moors, presented a cheque to fundraisers Charlotte Bellchambers and Kirstie Hancox of Diverse Abilities’ Coping with CHAOS children’s team.

The money was raised in August after Brook View held a village fete in its Riverside Road grounds, attracting hundreds of people.

Helen Holden, Home Manager, said, “We pride our home on being at the centre of the community so were only too pleased to host the fete. It was a great success.”
Coping with CHAOS was started in 1997 by East Dorset parents, Liz Morris and Anne Boyce, both of whom had children with very different disabilities.
Based on their personal experiences, they identified the need for an organisation that provided support for the whole family.

Today over 500 families are registered and Coping with CHAOS is recognised as a major provider of short breaks for families with disabled children in the area.

Charlotte Bellchambers said, “We’d like to give a big thank you to Colten Care for hosting the fete and raising such a large amount of money.
“It will almost certainly go towards providing play opportunities and other activities which give such a lifeline for families assisted by Coping for CHAOS.”
