Ringwood School hosted the annual Rotary Interschool Photography exhibition on 5 April, which saw over 1,200 entries submitted for judging.
Ringwood School opened its doors to host the annual Rotary Interschool Photography competition exhibition on 5 April. The theme of this year’s competition was ‘Whatever makes you smile’ and over 1,200 entries were submitted from the following local schools: Burgate School and Sixth Form, Downton Primary School, Moyles Court School, Poulner Junior School, Ringwood School and The Trafalgar School at Downton.
The 1,200 entries, the highest number of entries ever attracted by the competition, were from the following age categories (Years 4-6, Years 7-10, Years 11-13 and Adult).
The judging panel had the tough task of selecting just 36 final entries for each category to go through to the exhibition event at Ringwood School Conference Centre, where the entries were proudly printed and displayed.
The following entries were all highly commended and a runner-up and winner were also selected for each age category. The overall winner for ‘Best in Show’ was awarded to Lauren Walkley, a Year 9 student from Ringwood School.

Stuart Fielder, Course Leader Photography at Ringwood School commented, “Every year I find myself genuinely inspired by the enthusiasm of the young people who take part in this competition. It gives me an important opportunity to encourage and celebrate all aspects of students’ photographic skill from across the local area. Creativity is something we do particularly well as a country and Art education’s role is vital to keeping this production line of talent healthy. I am looking forward to including more schools in next year’s competition and would invite any schools interested to contact me here at Ringwood School”.
