Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities has launched a new fundraising campaign to help boost morale among those currently social distancing.

The aim of the initiative is to help spread positivity, by people sending flower seeds to parents, friends, neighbours or those they have never met.

The #GrowTogether campaign distributes sweet pea and dwarf sunflower seeds for recipients to plant, nourish and grow at home during the government’s lockdown period.

The seeds, which can be purchased for £5.75 including postage, include an uplifting poem for the recipient. People can also decide to send flowers to someone they do not know, and the charity will distribute them to local care homes, as well as the people supported by Diverse Abilities.

Corporate fundraiser Naomi Richards said, “Our #GrowTogether campaign will not only help us to continue to support the vulnerable people who access our services through raising vital funds, but it will also allow us to bring a little seed of hope and spread colour to the lives of those currently being told to self-isolate and practice social distancing in order to keep safe. We’re looking forward to everyone sharing their progress pictures on social media through the #GrowTogether hashtag.”
