Social distancing is vital for VJ Day 75 commemoration

VJ Day 75 will be marked in Wimborne Minster – with social distancing throughout.

Participants will meet at the Royal British Legion and walk to the Minster Green, arriving by 10.50am.

There will be an opening prayer by the rector the Rev Canon Andrew Rowland, a roll call of those from the town who fell during the Second World War, and Last Post with the Exhortation by the RBL Military Committee chairman Squadron Leader (retd) Mike Young.

This will be followed by a two minutes silence, Reveille and the Kohima plea.

Wreaths will be laid by The Mayor, Shane Bartlett and the RBL president.

Residents attending are urged to observe social distancing.
